“While driving at low speeds I heard a popping sound, got out checked my tires and everthing seemed ok. All of a sudden I hear a cracking sound. I pulled back the sunroof panel and saw shattered glass”

NHTSA complaint #11302494, filed 2020-01, 32,000 miles

“The entire back of the sunroof has shattered. Car is only a 2019 with 15000 miles. We have a rogue which is over 5 years old and have had no issues with the sunroof.”

NHTSA complaint #11366283, filed 2020-10, 15,000 miles

“I have a 2019 Kia Sportage with a conventional ignition key. Three times in five years, the engine has apparently started by itself while parked. The key was not in the ignition. I stopped the engine by inserting the key, turning it ON, then OFF. I bought the vehicle used from CarMax, and I don’t know whether an aftermarket remote starter was installed.”

NHTSA complaint #11772251, filed 2026-10

“My oil consumption is approximately 1.5 quarts every 200 miles. I get my oil changed every month and every other week I need to top off. When my oil, is low there is no indication on the dash. I have to preform inspections on my car on a daily basis. Now, my car will randomly not start. I replaced the battery and changed the spark plugs.”

NHTSA complaint #11687052, filed 2025-09

“I have a 2019 Kia Sportage with 41k miles on it and the paint is peeling. As of now, the roof spoiler is completely peeled off. The side view mirrors, and the door handles, have paint peeling and bubbling. I have reported it to Kia and they are unwilling to stand by their product and extend the warranty on the paint. Kia is fully aware of the problem but is not willing to fix it.”
