“While traveling on I-49 north at 50 MPH in kansas city missouri, our Land Rover lost electrical control of car. The car shut down the engine, power steering and power brakes leaving the car drifting without power at 50 MPH on the highway. The driver was able to coast the car off of the highway without injury or collision with another vehicle. The car had lights and radio power but could not be started. Once stopped the car's emergency brake could not be engaged, so the driver had to stay with the car to keep it from rolling. The car was towed to the dealer after the event. …”
NHTSA complaint #10969488, filed 2017-03, 125,000 miles“I parked my LR4 in my driveway, which is on an incline. I shifted the transmission to what I believed was park, but apparently the shifter did not end up all the way in the park position. I shut off the engine using the push-button switch, opened the door and got out of the car. The car immediately began rolling toward me. The door hit me on the way down the driveway, and I was fortunately able to jump clear of the open door into the stairway. The car continued rolling down hill, and the door, still open, hit the retaining wall, folding it back over its hinges. …”
