“The fail safe engine light comes on when driving at any speed or when the fuel gage gets low. I have to turn my truck off, wait a few minutes , then turn it back on for it to cooperate correctly. While the light is on it drives sluggishly.”
NHTSA complaint #11000013, filed 2017-06, 140,000 miles“During a 100k mile tune up, I attempted to change spark plugs. Out of 3 plugs, 2 broke off in engine block. The truck was then taken to a mechanic who broke off 3 more. They told me that ford is very aware of the problem and would not do anything about it. It cost me $800 to have spark plugs removed. Now it appears that a part of the old plug broke off into the cylinder head, not removed by original shop, causing more damage that is currently being looked at by another shop.”
NHTSA complaint #10926938, filed 2016-11, 100,000 miles“The engine stop running sometimes. It says engine fail safe mode need to completely stop and restart the engine.. Then okay.. It happens not only once but few times already..it happens when the car is in motion..running around 40 to 60 miles MPH.”
NHTSA complaint #10883425, filed 2016-07, 83,000 miles“The contact owns a 2006 Lincoln Mark Lt. While driving at approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle stalled and the engine fail safe mode warning light illuminated. The contact also stated that the steering wheel seized and the brakes failed. The failures recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.”
