Example complaints

Brakes: “Was driving straight on a level paved street in town at about 30-35 MPH, clear day, 70-75 degrees when the rsc dash light came on, and a loud grinding sound came from the transmission area, the transmission geared down by itself, the engine lost power, and I had no brakes. This lasted about 5 seconds or so. Over the next 3/4 mile, the rsc dash indicator light would come on briefly and when it did, I had no braking ability. This happened about 3 times within 3/4 mile. …”

NHTSA complaint #10223762, filed 2008-04, 22,745 miles

Fuel system: “My 2007 Lincoln Navigator ultimate 4x4 engine stopped running suddenly like it ran out of gas. There was a half a tank of gas in the vehicle. The vehicle would crank and crank but would not start. I troubleshooted the issue to a failed fuel pump. When I pulled the fuel pump out of the fuel tank I noticed that the wiring going to the negative side of the pump was melted. This is extremely dangerous that the pump was submerged in gasoline but it got hot enough to melt the plastic on the pump and wiring. There should be a recall for this issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10456003, filed 2012-04, 63,000 miles

Body and structure: “My car was parked in my driveway. I opened the back hatch to allow my children to load their violins in the back before taking them to school. The hatch suddenly came down quickly on its own, slamming down. It hit my son's arm just as he pulled away from the car. It could have caused him great bodily harm. Every time I push the remote to open the hatch it opens completely then slams back down.”

NHTSA complaint #10790581, filed 2015-11, 80,500 miles

Electrical system: “The truck started on fire around the front passenger seat while I was driving ,I pulled over rescued my dog ran to the grass area and watch it burn to the ground. This was june 13,2015”
