NHTSA complaint #10069288, filed 2004-01, 94,000 miles“Tly and ford can't seem to find the problem. We have contacted Lincoln and they do not seem to care. They basically said it is our problem. It has stalled on a straight road as well as in traffic. It is dangerous to drive and no one seems to care.”
NHTSA complaint #743955, filed 2001-04“As an electrical engineer and fire investigator, myself and other fire investigators are experiencing a rash of fires lately in 1992 and 1993 Lincoln towncars. Fires seem to originate in the front of the engine compartment on the drivers side. In most instances, the vehicles are parked for 30 minutes to an hour before fire is noticed. We have seen approximately 15 such occurrences. We are trying to determine what the failure mechanism may be.”
NHTSA complaint #781555, filed 1998-04“The dealer that I bought this car from has never told me any of the recalls in which I have paid for many of the recall repairs my self. How can I get reinbursed.”
NHTSA complaint #734808, filed 2000-10“Driving 40mph when vehicle stalled out without any warning. Towed to dealer & nothing was found by mechanic. Vehicle was restarted by mechanic. Stalled a second time & was able to restart after 30 minutes. This would happened at least 3-4 times since at the dealer. Stalling problem could not be duplicated. Had repairs done on vehicle & has not stalled since then. .”
