Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“On feb 13, 09 I had the engine mount on my Mazda 3 hatchback replaced because it was leaking. Today I was informed by the Mazda technician that the same engine mount was leaking again and need to be replaced. His comment was that the engine was too heavy and speed vibration causes the mount to fail.”

NHTSA complaint #10327070, filed 2010-04, 28,192 miles

“I was notified by the Mazda dealership that an integral hydraulic engine mount was cracking and needed replacement. I was just past my car's warranty so I drove on it since they said it was safe. On november 8th 2013 during a service I was told the integral mount was about to break and needed immediate replacement. They said if the mount had broken while driving it could cause an accident, not to mention destroy the motor. I had them replace it but had to pay out of pocket since it was past warranty and not a recall. …”

NHTSA complaint #10558940, filed 2014-01, 46,302 miles

“I have a complaint that could be very dangerous to others. I know to check my blind spot, but even when you turn to look over your shoulder (either way), the back panel between the back glass and the door is in the way. I have at least 3 times now, almost switched lanes into another vehicle because it wasn't visible. I looked in the side and rearview mirrors, as well, but I never saw the other vehicle. A friend of mine, as well as other 3 owners, also has the same problem with their Mazda 3.”

NHTSA complaint #10241409, filed 2008-09, 15,000 miles

“I have been getting my car regularly maintenanced (and tired rotated and balanced) every six months and I have all the receipts to prove this. Dates as follows: november 14, 2007, march 6, 2008, august 25, 2008, april 9, 2009 and sept 4, 2009. I was informed that my tires were 'cuppling' and that I need all 4 tires now as well as a 4 wheel alignment. There are toyo tires and I have one 34,000 miles on them. I was hearing rattling sound coming from the console, dashboard and passenger side door while I drive. I was told it was wires lose and they fixed it....but in fact they did not. …”

NHTSA complaint #10284629, filed 2009-09, 34,343 miles

“Engine mount bolt failed while driving on a city street causing the engine and transmission to drop onto axel. Vehicle could not be driven until front axel was replaced and the engine mount bolt was replaced.”
