“How many years is acceptable for this recall to have no remedy ? If it's so dangerous as to warrant a recall, why is it so safe to simply ignore for years, and years?”

NHTSA complaint #11298176, filed 2020-01, 62,000 miles

“My front passenger airbag has a factory defect. I contacted my local mercedes dealership multiple times regarding the issue, but they just keep saying the part is not available. The recall has been open for over a year, so they had more than enough time to rectify the problem.”

NHTSA complaint #11363423, filed 2020-10

“This airbag recall which could result in sharp metal fragments striking the front passenger or other occupants, possibly causing serious injury or death was reported jan 18, 2019 and I received notice march 2019 (no date was noted on the letter). It is now 7-jun 2019 and per my interim notice I should file a complaint if an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer for any reason is unable to remedy the situation without charge, or within a reasonable amount of time, pursuant to law 49 u.s.c. Chapter 301. …”

NHTSA complaint #11218592, filed 2019-06

“I've been waiting for 18 months for my airbag to be repaired. The dealer has no idea when they will receive the parts. This is ridiculous, this is a safety issue.”

NHTSA complaint #11327980, filed 2020-06

“The contact owns a 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLK250. The contact stated that the front passenger’s side air bag warning light failed to function as designed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the mechanic informed the contact that the sensor light was permanently disabled. The contact then stated that he was informed of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V010000 (Air Bags). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact to call the NHTSA Hotline.
