“The contact owns a 2022 Mercedes-Benz S 580. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated and the engine stalled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with a failed CAM shaft solenoid. The contact was informed that the CAM shaft solenoid needed to be replaced. In addition, the contact was informed that the engine needed to be dismantled. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. …”

The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V704000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.”
