NHTSA complaint #11154071, filed 2018-11, 122,000 miles

Steering: “The contact owns a 2011 Mercury Grand Marquis. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 13v385000 (steering). The manufacturer was contacted and advised that the part was not available for repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was 30,000. Updated 12/30/13”

NHTSA complaint #10553195, filed 2013-11, 30,000 miles

Air bags: “The air bag light remains on all the time. My mechanic says that car's computer is generating a code indicating a problem with a sensor in driver's side seat belt. He says that the entire seat belt assembly must be replaced at a cost of $500. The car only has 70,000 miles on it. Since this is a safety issue and appears from the many complaints you've received to be a common problem with 2005 Grand Marquis's, I urge DOT to issue a recall to require the manufacturer to pay for the necessary repairs.”

NHTSA complaint #11024863, filed 2017-09, 70,000 miles

Brakes: “2011 Mercury Grand Marquis. Consumer writes in regards to problems with brake pedal. The consumer stated since he purchased the vehicle, he noticed a great deal of free brake pedal travel and nearly had an accident twice. The consumer stated he hit the brake and accelerator pedal simultaneously. The dealer informed the consumer there was no adjustment for the pedal travel. The consumer stated the specific problem occurred, when the brake pedal was fully depressed and it was at the same level from the floor as the accelerator.”
