“Mercury Mariner Hybrid 2009 had it for 18 months and august 3, 2010 upon an approach to a stop light engaging the brakes I heard an audible warning sound and looked at my console to see the warning to check brakes, at that moment my brake pedal went soft and to the floor, I had to apply the emergency brake to stop the mariner to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me. …”
NHTSA complaint #10347348, filed 2010-08, 40,000 miles“The ABS system turn off, took to shop they could not fine trouble it had reset. Today same thing ABS turn off. Will take it in if it does not reset. Both times that it turn off car was parked and I was just starting it to leave..*I would see a warning that says 'regen brake failure.' *the ABS just went out one day while coming home from the store, and would reset when the car sat for a while. And syre was not fun to drive, but unless it stayed off there was not much they could do at ford to fine out what was going on. …”
NHTSA complaint #10919135, filed 2016-10, 105,900 miles“This vehicle has lost brakes 3 times. My now 17 year old daughter is the driver! The first time the brake pedal went to the floor and pumping it would not help. Putting the car in neutral and using the emergency brake was the only way to stop the car. A non-ford car technician told us it was a possible brake booster issue and the best thing to do would be for it to happen again and bring it to ford for the codes to be read. I drove the car for over a week and it would not repeat the problem. …”
NHTSA complaint #10429479, filed 2011-10, 37,850 miles“While driving down the road, all of the warning lights on the dash board came on and then the breaks failed. We were able to get to safety after going off the road. When taken into the ford motor company repair shop they reset the codes and said everything was fine, no parts to repair. Less than 50 miles later, the same thing happened again injuring 3! This time it's the ABS module. After calling the ford motor company, they refuse to admit there is any problem and no reason for a recall. …”
