“I was driving up the hill & slowed down for the speedbump. I started applying the brakes to turn right into the driveway but the car lunged forward, causing me to miss the driveway & turn into the yard. As I stepped on the brake the car continued to speed up so I screamed at my husband james I can't stop the car! He yanked the handbrake up but it didn't stop or slow down and the engine made a continuous high pitched racing sound. We crashed into the house, damaging it & breaking my left arm! The car was totaled. All this occurred in just a matter of seconds. …”
NHTSA complaint #11047938, filed 2017-11, 120,000 miles“While driving often times my vehicle reduces speed drastically, while pressing on the gas. This is very dangerous especially when on the highway because of the sudden reduction in speed. Most of my driving is done on the highway. It takes a long time for the vehicle to pick up speed again. Also it does this when I am stopped at a red light which is also a concern for me with my child in the car. I tried to get this problem diagnosed but it drives fine while at the mechanic shop. My vehicle has been doing this since my purchase with only having 42,000 and some miles on it. …”
