“I was driving on the highway when the vehicle started slowing down and the gas pedal did nothing but rev, w/out any acceleration. I towed it to my house and now the transmission will not engage in any of the gears. My problem is a ford recall and they told me it has already been done on my vehicle, what can I do?”
NHTSA complaint #11065961, filed 2018-01, 125,000 miles“Thursday may 23 2019. Driving down the road and my van just cut off. I was able to restart the van and get into a parking lot. I sat for a bit and tried it again. It started. But I had no power to go forward or reverse the transmission was just gone. Absolutely no warning or anything like this had happened. No service engine light .. I was on a city street. I had just pulled forward from waiting for a red light.”
NHTSA complaint #11210329, filed 2019-05, 92,650 miles“My vehicle lost engine power while in drive and came to a complete stop in the middle of lanes during rush-hour traffic. Also lost reverse had to be towed. Since the incident, I discovered there was a recall for this exact issue and attempted to resolve directly through ford. I've submitted receipts for services performed and ford is non-responsive to my requests for reimbursement.”
NHTSA complaint #10474079, filed 2012-09, 119,691 miles“While driving our 2004 Mercury Monterey the transmission quit working right in the middle of the road. I was able to get to the side of the road with out incident. The van only has 78,000 miles on it and would expect more than that on a major component. I'm still making payments on a van that doesn't work. To get it fixed is between $1500 to 2500.”
NHTSA complaint #10313521, filed 2010-02, 78,400 miles“I have a 2004 Mercury Monterey was driving and all the sudden transmission went out without warning. No warning lights or other shifting problems. Very hazardous. They want 4 to 6000.00 to repair this is definitely a ford problem and should be repaired by them. I could have been killed and my passengers only by the grace of god we weren't.”
