“At around 50,000 miles we noticed the housing that holds the driver\\'s side airbag coming loose. We received a couple of recall notices on other things so when we took it in to get the recalls done I asked the technician at sunflower lincoln/Mercury if he could check out the problem with the airbag housing and possibly fix it for us. He called us back stating that the bolts had sheered off from the inside of the housing and that they couldn\\'t fix it and that we would have to pay between $300-$500 dollars out of our own pocket to get it fixed. …”
NHTSA complaint #10070094, filed 2004-01, 50,000 miles“My airbag indicator light blinks, I took my car to lannings ford here in carey oh. They said that the modular & fuse blew they don't know what caused it to blow if I get it fixed theres a good chance it may blow again we don't know so as of now my airbags won't work if there was to be an accident.”
NHTSA complaint #714293, filed 1999-11“The front springs were changed under one of the recalls after one broke.the back springs were not under recall but were both broken and ford refused to do it even though the springs were from the same supplier and failed prematurely. I had to change both rear springs due to their partial recall. The air bag light is blinking now which I am told means the air bags will not deploy if involved in an accident. I need to drive the car and if involved in an accident will hold ford responsible for any injuries as they won't fix this faulty system.”
NHTSA complaint #10069369, filed 2004-01“Vehicle experiencing problem with water entering underneath vehicle and causing engine to shut off while driving. Dealer repaired at consumer's expense. Also, air bag sensor light came on blinking, indicating that air bag may have deployed. Dealer notified, and would only repair at consumer expense. Can NHTSA help in this matter.”
NHTSA complaint #846436, filed 1999-09“While pulling out of a gas station traveling at approximately 2 to 3 MPH, driver's side air bag fell out into drivers lap. Dealership requested that consumer replace steering column at her expense.”
