“I commute a long distance to work, when I can't fill up my gas tank and the engine light constantly comes on I don't feel safe. When it rains the car sometimes losing power and brakes. The tires and brakes have already been replaced. The following items have also been reolaced, seat belts, air conditioner, drivers side eletric window motor, the horn and more. …”
NHTSA complaint #706672, filed 1999-05“Each of these problems happened within 1 week of one another. I contacted my dealership and the Mercury customer hotline, both of whom said it wasn't their problem since the vehicle was past the 36,000 mile warranty. So many failures, just 2000 miles out of warranty, however, is inexcusable, and Mercury should have stood behind their product.”
NHTSA complaint #536075, filed 1998-05“My license plate holder was replaced front rotors replaced at 50000 gas lid release repaired x 2 still not working in shop for over a week at capital motor co for power steering fluid leak. During heavy rains I loose my power steering and can't turn or control my car. An associate has same make and model and experiences this problem also. This can be very dangerous if you need to turn your car suddenly to avoid someone or something.”
NHTSA complaint #700834, filed 1998-11“This Mercury Mystique has been a problem from the first time I drove it. All of the recalls were serviced by the dealer but I also experienced both front struts breaking, the front spring breaking, the front rotors cracking and the list goes on. The last straw was when the transmission failed at 74,000. The complete unit was replaced at a cost of over $2,000!! I've read the list of complaints on the 95' Mystique and it's makes me want to cry. I will never by a ford product again.”
NHTSA complaint #731708, filed 2000-09“I first told the dealer of a small leak. They said it was nothing. I've had nothing but problems with this car and ford refuses to address the problems. I know of many people who have had similar problems. I should not be paying $3,000 for a new transmission for a car that only has 43,594 miles on it. The government should do something about this ongoing problem. The consumer shouldn't be raped by manufacturers lack of interest in making vehicles that will last past 50,000 miles when they ask for tens of thousands up front for their product. Please help!!!!!!”
