Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I have had repeated incidents where my horn will sound during the night, and if I was using it as a warning to another driver. I have had it checked several times, and I was finally told that the airbag is probably what is causing the problem. Now my horn doesn't sound at all and this poses a safety hazard to me, my children and any other passengers as well as other drivers and pedestrians.”

NHTSA complaint #10649656, filed 2014-10, 98,000 miles

“My horn continues blow and will not stop. I replaced the horn relay but it continues to blow and the only way to stop it is to unplug the hone fuse or relay.”

NHTSA complaint #10154608, filed 2006-04, 87,500 miles

“Dt: the vehicle lost power in the driveway. It was totally dead. Towed it to the dealer, they said main fuse had to be replaced, they replaced it, then 5 days later it lost the power again in the middle road. Called the dealer, and he said it was an an electrical problem. Contacted the manufacturer, and they say the warranty expired. This happened the first time on july 11, 2005.”

NHTSA complaint #10131045, filed 2005-08, 60,000 miles

“Horn became erratic. Worked sometimes, then wouldn't work. Now the horn always sounds. Have to keep the fuse removed to turn off the horn. Was told vehicle needs a new airbag to fix. This is ridiculous and is a blatant safety hazard that the manufacturer needs to fix free of charge.”

NHTSA complaint #10136037, filed 2005-09, 50,000 miles

“When battery cables are disconnected for service, the car stalls suddenly & repeatedly without warning. This continues for approximately 10-12 miles before returning to normal. Twice in 2007 when the battery cables were disconnected from the battery; once to clean acid build-up off the cables (5/07) & then again to install a new battery (10/07) , the car started right up and ran fine until out on the road and preparing to stop for a light and/or slowing down under 30 MPH and then it died repeatedly. …”
