“I have had repeated incidents where my horn will sound during the night, and if I was using it as a warning to another driver. I have had it checked several times, and I was finally told that the airbag is probably what is causing the problem. Now my horn doesn't sound at all and this poses a safety hazard to me, my children and any other passengers as well as other drivers and pedestrians.”

NHTSA complaint #10649656, filed 2014-10, 98,000 miles

“I was sitting in an intersection waiting to turn left. As I began to turn a pickup truck ran the light and hit me head on at approx 45 MPH. None of my 4 airbags deployed -- driver front & side airbags nor the passenger front & side airbags. The front end was completely smashed up. My car was towed from the scene and subsequently ruled as a total loss by the insurance company. I don't understand how none of these airbags deployed in this accident!”

NHTSA complaint #10078391, filed 2004-06, 27,000 miles

“Me and my wife were driving about 45 miles an hour when the rear end of my car started sliding I try to correct the fish tale but the driver rear tire and rim folded under the car which cause the car to flip several times no airbags deployed the car was so crushed I had to dig down into the ditch to free myself from the car upon taking a closer look I realized the sway bar had pulled apart from both sides of the rear of the car also the main support of the rear suspension had broken in too therefore causing the car to flip we could have easily died in this crash and 2 year old and our 6…”

NHTSA complaint #10018575, filed 2003-05, 37,911 miles

“At just after 48,000 miles on the 2001 Mitsubishi Galant es v6, the ABS and traction control lights came on and stayed on while operating the vehicle. The brakes, which had recently been replaced, made loud echoing crunch noises. Braking distance increased. The brakes had almost always been wobbly, even with newly machined rotors. Also, front and side air bags did not deploy when vehicle rear-ended a tahoe on a different occasion.”

NHTSA complaint #10023705, filed 2003-06, 48,100 miles

“Driver applied brakes at 25-28 MPH and vehicle slid on leave covered road and rear ended another vehicle. Upon impact, neither air bags deployed. Driver sustained cuts and bruises. Vehicle was totaled.”
