“The sunroof glass exploded out of our car while we were driving on the freeway in idaho. The sunroof was closed because it had been raining and it was cold. Mitsubishi had a similar problem with sunroof glass detaching in outlanders from 2007-2010. When we contacted Mitsubishi they informed us that the glass flying out of our sunroof was not a safety problem or a manufacturer's defect even though it was ruled as such in previous years.”

NHTSA complaint #11376171, filed 2020-11, 72,000 miles

“On 27may2018, I started my 2018 Mitsubishi Outlander phev and put it in reverse to back out of the garage. For the first time ever, the alarm dinged and the car would not reverse. My console indicated the charge cord was still plugged in. So I jumped out of the car to unplug the cord, not realizing that I never pressed the 'p' button to put the car in park. I didn't even think to press the 'p' button to initiate park because the vehicle had no motion. …”

NHTSA complaint #11098228, filed 2018-05, 3,010 miles

“Our car seat is nearly brand new (first used at the end of Sept 2023 upon birth of our daughter) upon placing the car seat in the base, we noticed it wasn’t making the clicking sound indicating a secure lock to base. Upon further investigation it appears the pieces that lock the car seat in place are jammed and not operating properly. If we had gotten in a car accident the car seat would not have been properly secured.”

NHTSA complaint #11555883, filed 2023-11

“Driving down the road and the engine shuts off. Yes its available upon request. I have reported it to my mechanic. The safety is me and others as this has happened 3 times in the past 2 weeks in the middle of traffic. My mechanic has been the only one to look at the car and doesnt know what is wrong. When the car shuts off the battery light comes on and the car said airbag system service required on 09/13/2026 but went off a few hrs later. The problems started on 09/02/2026”

NHTSA complaint #11764435, filed 2026-09

“This is the second time the bushings on the rear motor (i believe they said inverter motor) have needed to be replaced. Currently the motor is being held by two of the three bushing. I was told by Mitsubishi that this is a common issue. If it's a common issue and if all three bushings failed, the rear motor would be displaced and could cause driver to have accident while driving the vehicle. My brakes are better made then these bushings, I have only had to replace my brakes once.”
