“The contact owns a 2000 Nissan Frontier. The contact stated that after having the vehicle inspected, she was informed that the frame was severely rusted. The vehicle was then taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the frame, bed and air conditioning connection were all rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. The failure and current mileages were approximately 144,000.”
NHTSA complaint #10418493, filed 2011-08, 144,000 miles“The contact owns a 2000 Nissan Frontier. In may of 2003, the contact noticed that the undercarriage of the vehicle was corroded. She attempted to apply the emergency brake and it locked. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they replaced the emergency brake line and the muffler. In 2006, the dealer replaced the caliper, rotors, and the brake line for a second time. In november of 2007, the dealer replaced the gas tank due to corrosion. In november of 2008, the vehicle was diagnosed with major corrosion to all undercarriage compartments that were previously replaced. …”
