“My particular problem has been taking place since about november of 2009. It began when I washed my car one day to remove some road salt and has been recurring since then. The problem involves the door lock becoming frozen . When the lock freezes, I am unable to unlock the door with a key, remote, or manually from inside the cab. This now takes place almost any night when it freezes. If I decide to leave the doors unlocked at night, it allows me to get inside, but the door does not close when I attempt to do so. …”
NHTSA complaint #10308917, filed 2010-02, 40,000 miles“2006 Nissan Frontier door latches become non-functional when temperature drops to freezing. Door latch and handle locks up making it impossible to enter or exit the vehicle. Happened numerous times last winter and has continued again every time it freezes. Have to enter and exit through passenger side door making situation a safety risk. Nissan will not cover it out of warranty and in doing some research on the topic, has not successfully fixed the problem in other consumers vehicles still under warranty. Seems to be aproblem in both Frontier and titan models. …”
