“Whilst trying to drive forward, the vehicle is unable to have enough momentum to drive- in other words the transmission is not functioning correctly. According to the mechanic I brought it to, I was advised that he has seen this happen with this make/model/year before and it is caused due to an issue with the radiator leaking anti-freeze into the transmission system.”
NHTSA complaint #10524964, filed 2013-07, 90,000 miles“When I got out of college the first thing I wanted to do was to buy my dream car. I had been looking into getting a truck and I was debating between my number one choice a Nissan Frontier or 2nd choice toyota tacoma. I knew the tacoma was probably more reliable in terms of minor parts yet I just loved the design of the Frontier and therefore I bought one in 2006 brand new. Ever since it has been my preferred and only way of transportation. …”
NHTSA complaint #10723445, filed 2015-06, 120,530 miles“I was driving on the interstate, and then all the sudden the rpms went up and I had no control with the gas pedal, like it was in neutral, I pulled over to the shoulder put it in park, put it back in drive and it started to go again, as soon as I hit 4th gear it did it again. Took it to the transmission shop and the told me it was the radiator leaking into the transmission because of a cracked line. See this has been happening frequently with this model, why no warning or recall?”

NHTSA complaint #10553573, filed 2013-11, 112,000 miles“I was driving on the freeway and notice smoke coming from near (it turns out it was coming from underneath) about few seconds later the check engine light is flashing, my Nissan pickup engine lost some speed and it appears to have lost power as well because it was not accelerating. I took it for inspection to 2 different auto shops locally and have gotten the same reports from both shops.I have a bad transmission and radiator coolant leaks seems to have caused the transmission failure. …”
