“The consumer had her foot on the brake and placed the shifter into reverse to back out of a parking space, when the vehicle was placed into reverse it suddenly accelerated backwards while the consumers foot was still on the brake, as a result the consumers vehicle hit a parked car. Nlm”
NHTSA complaint #567189, filed 2002-08“While in drive & attempting to park, vehicle suddenly accelerated, (max RPM). Upon gaining control of vehicle & shuting down engine,waited about 5 min. And restarted engine. Rpm shot up a little more than normal startup, engine idled fine after startup. Placed vehicle in reverse and proceed to back off sidewalk/curb, vehicle abruptly accelerates in reverse! I was able to stop vehicle by placing transmision in park & shuting down engine.”
