“As I was in the drivethru with the car idling, it started to shake and it felt like a thumping going on. I put there car in park and it kept going for about s minute or two before it stopped. This is not the first time it happens.”

NHTSA complaint #11330258, filed 2020-06, 21,749 miles

“Vehicle was perfectly fine, but then begin to stall out on 3/1 in motion on the street, while turning, & backing up. Then on 3/18 when attempting to back up the car it completely stopped. Car is at the shop now with reported transmission issues.”

NHTSA complaint #11403883, filed 2021-03, 43,233 miles

“Our renter states that the vehicle was great up until the incident. States that they filled the vehicle up with gas around 4pm before parking it just out in front of where they were staying. At 1am they were awoken by a disturbance outside and someone banging on their door telling them they needed to come outside - when he arrived he noticed the vehicle completely engulfed in flames. The fire department arrived but it took almost an hour, per renter, to put out the flames as the vehicle kept leaking gasoline. …”

NHTSA complaint #11302509, filed 2020-01, 12,893 miles

“Complete engine failure. I did regular oil changes about every 4000 miles and the last one I did early at around 3200 miles the oil was sludge and after the engine knocked and low oil pressure light came on and the engine blew all within 2 miles of the light coming on and me trying to find a safe place to pull over. These engines have a defect somewhere and I know it didn't happen from improper maintenance.”

NHTSA complaint #11674247, filed 2025-07

“I was driving my Pathfinder and I experienced engine failure. It is a four year old engine with 170000 miles on it that has been properly maintained. The engine was knocking and would not accelerate on the highway past 40 mph. When I finally stopped the car, it would not restart. I read an article where this type of engine failure was consistent with the Rogue and Altimas that you were already investigating and I was wondering if the Pathfinder had a related investigation going on.”
