“Over the last several months we have noticed a moldy smell in the car and it has gotten worse. We took it to the dealer who discover a leak in the rear hatch that had soaked the carpet in the rear well. Dealer found rear hatch seal had failed and needed to be replaced. All rear carpeting needs to be cleaned and disinfected. Entire car defogged.”

NHTSA complaint #10324402, filed 2010-04, 64,000 miles

“My Nissan Quest 2006 model has had the drivers side sun visor replaced 3 times. It continues to fall out of place into the drivers view. It has now happened again 4th time and hit my wife in the face while she was breaking at an intersection. It a serious safety issue if it fails and drops to restrict view while driving. Nissan and dealership are not helping reach a solution.”

NHTSA complaint #10264801, filed 2009-04, 57,000 miles

“The hatch lift will not close or open with the key or push button; it is an open position. We contact a Nissan dealer and was quote $900 to repair. In 2012 we had to replace the transmission that cost us $2500. The dashboard all the lights have gone out and the cost to replaced that whole is over $600 just for the parts not including labor. When we bought the van we were very happy with it. But in the last 3years it has gone down hill. I car that we bought brand new for over $30,000 should last more than 7 years. …”

NHTSA complaint #10512523, filed 2013-05, 100,000 miles

“Passenger sliding door motor died in sept. Was replaced. Last week door started sticking again and then fell off the track into the street while driving. Had to be towed and take a cab home. Dealership trying to blame it on an accident that happened before the first motor was replaced. Nissan has not gotten back to us yet. I had a 2 month old baby in the car when this happened. I do not feel safe driving this car any longer. I like Nissan, this is my 4th car from them but I believe the door was not properly reinstalled.”

NHTSA complaint #10213532, filed 2008-01, 24,000 miles

“The automatic side doors close with an excessive amount of force and an inadequate safety mechanism. As a grown adult they can push me over before the actually reverse directions. Today, my 18 month old son got his thumb caught in the door and it did not release. He thumb was seriously injured, but fortunately we think it is not broken. I was just shocked that a vehicle designed for family took so little consideration with regards to the operation of the doors. Thank, mike.”
