Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“About a week ago, my car started making noises when idling, which I thought little of because my car only has around 76,000 miles on it and is well taken care of. Over the next few days, the noise became a full-on rattle (like an amplified version of bike gears grinding). When driving, the car will lurch forward and will jerk even harder when turning. Within the first few minutes of driving each time I use the car, it has no power and feels as if it wants to pull back and hinder me from moving forward. I've taken the car to two mechanics and have had the transmission looked over. …”

NHTSA complaint #10939943, filed 2017-01, 76,000 miles

“At 35 MPH, car lost power decelerating rapidly to 1 MPH. The dashboard lit up with 5-6 warning lights as brakes, engine, skid control, etc. Dealership could not determine problem and had to call Nissan for assistance. Car had to be towed. The problem was caused by an A/C pressure switch--92136-1fada.”

NHTSA complaint #10587169, filed 2014-05, 250 miles

“After Nissan dealership updated ECM on 6/1/2026, the MIL came on with code p0101. This causes the car to go into limo mode while driving on the highway. I took car back to Nissan who said they needed to clean the wires, which they did and cleared the code. Again while driving the car went into limo mode. Nissan now says I needed an $8,000 new computer. Again the car went into limo mode while driving. The car can be driven but randomly goes into limo mode. This only happened immediately after the ECM update in June 2026, and may cause an accident if it continues to randomly go into limo mode.”
