“I have had this car for less than one week. The mileage is currently at about 275 miles. When I turn the key in the ignition, the car doesn't start until I hold the key turned for at least 5 seconds. This is very frustrating because it seems as if it will not start. This happens daily, whether it is hot or cold outside. It is not contingent on the time of day either.”

NHTSA complaint #10231860, filed 2008-06, 100 miles

“Have had my Nissan Versa since 2009, got it with 50 miles on the car. Spent 2 years in florida with it without a problem and in the past year I've had so many issues with this car I'll never buy another Nissan again. Have replaced all of the tires twice and today I was a mile from my home when my car had issues accelerating and starting making a loud rattling noise. I've come to find out that my muffler has broken at the flange. Apparently this is common with these nissans and nothing has been done to change it. …”

NHTSA complaint #10559264, filed 2014-01, 42,239 miles

“We have a 2008 Nissan Versa and bought it with 6 miles on it. The car now has 60000 miles on it and there is white residue around the crankcase and back pressure in the motor. We have gone to the dealership and they say it needs a whole new engine. There is absolutely nothing we could have done to cause this issue. Nissan is not helping us very much so far, we were hoping you all could help out. Everyone we have talked to says it is a manufacturers defect.”

NHTSA complaint #10266592, filed 2009-04, 62,795 miles

“The car has begun to make a loud metal clunking sound at the top right suspension as well as what almost sounds like a grinding but not similar to that of the braking system. I was going around a curve at the time. The sound gets worse when going down a hill changing speeds, switching lanes, on pot holes or an uneven surface. I took it to a few different places and could not reproduce the problem at the time. While driving with a more experienced mechanic he was able to determine the sound to be isolated to the right strut and the left inner tie rod. …”

NHTSA complaint #10511566, filed 2013-05, 47,000 miles

“My Versa has 7k miles and is 4 months old. I have been experiencing the long cranking time for about a month now. Its intermittent but I do worry that it won't start, have to tap the gas to get it to start.”
