“I was completely stopped about to pull out of a parking lot and as I turned onto a side road and got up to about 5-10 MPH my car jerked twice and completely stopped and stalled and it wouldn't rev up or do anything. The lights and everything was on but the car wouldn't move. I had to completely turn the car off in the middle of the road and back on before it would go again.”
NHTSA complaint #11265551, filed 2019-10, 73,200 miles“My car shut off while I was stopped at a stop sign. The radio and air were still on. The car would not move. In order for me to move the vehicle, I had to put it into park, turn the ignition switch to off and turn the ignition back to on. Basically turn it all the way off and restart the vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #11328528, filed 2020-06, 80,900 miles“I was driving down the highway, in traffic, 30 - 35 MPH, outside temp 88 degrees, AC was on, full gas tank, highway I-35 downtown dallas in the middle of rush hour, the car abruptly stopped while driving and turned off. The steering wheel did not respond, brakes did not respond, all warning lights came on, the car coasted to a stop. I put the car in park, waited 10 seconds, cranked, gassed it and it started back up. I took the car to o'riely's auto parts in cedar hill 30 min. Later to run a diagnostic test which came back that the battery, starter, alternator were functioning normally.”
NHTSA complaint #11317611, filed 2020-03, 75,000 miles“I bought this Versa brand new at the dealership. After a year from the purchase date the dealer went out of business and was bought out. The first year I had it I came in often with transmission problems, but was told it was nothing and to give it more gas when it acted like it was having troubles. Everytime I went for an oil change, even my first oil change, they would come back with 600 dollars worth of filters or the brake fluid needed to be changed. I quit going there for my car, because of the constant pressure to spend money on issues I wasnt having. …”
NHTSA complaint #11160656, filed 2018-12, 65,000 miles“Ignition switch failure and key cannot be removed. Car can be difficult to shut off and steering wheel can be difficult to put into lock position. Safety concern with parking and leaving key in all the time (especially with small children).”
