Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“The third brake light on the vehicle works intermittently at best, most of the time it does not work at all. I thought it was a problem specific to my van, but I have seen many other chrysler vans with the same brake light halfway working or not working at all.”

NHTSA complaint #751055, filed 2001-08

“This control module controls rear vent windows, overhead lights, elec. Odometer, trip odometer, ext. Temperature and compass. No alterations or repairs have ever been made to this area of the vehicle. Without any warning the module began to produce a significant amount of heavy smoke and odor. I pulled off the road, shut off the car, pulled down the console and pulled the master multi-pin plug. Were I on a busy highway the smoke from this event (directly above the windshield and overhead of the driver) would have certainly caused an accident.”

NHTSA complaint #751717, filed 2001-09
