“I have owned my 2002 Grand Prix for about 7 years. On june 8, 2011 about 6:30 p.m. My car caught on fire by just being parked. I called the customer service where they told me it would be 7 days before a rep got in contact with me. I have no money and I need a car. When will someone take this serious before someone gets really hurt.”

NHTSA complaint #10407220, filed 2011-06, 135,000 miles

“Car was not accelerating on high way then all power was last in car including the breaks. I was able to get the car to the side of the highway. Dark smoke began coming though the car's vent and out the hood. I exited the car and then saw flames coming out the engine. I received a recall notice in may 2009 for a problem with possible engine fires. Car was serviced at the dealership it was purchased from to fix the recalled item.”

NHTSA complaint #10341893, filed 2010-07, 124,899 miles

“I recently had to replace my intake manifold for my car in july, and just today I had to take my car to the mechanic because he said that the rear intake manifold was cracked and had to be replaced. He stated that grand prixs were built with plastic intake manifolds.”

NHTSA complaint #10361678, filed 2010-10, 150,000 miles

“The intake manifold gasket on my 3.8 liter Pontiac engine failed, causing antifreeze to leak into the crankcase. The top end of the engine had to be disassembled to install the new improved gasket set. My mechanic claimed that this is a common repair on that engine and that he does at least 3 per month. I called Pontiac's customer care, they offered no financial assistance.”

NHTSA complaint #10177189, filed 2006-12, 67,000 miles

“I have a complain on my 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix v6, we have changed the thermostat, water pump, belts, hoses, etc, anything u can think of we've done it. However the intake manifold is leaking apparently the gaskets are cracked, well I've read online that a lot of these cars have this issue and its a very costly price to fix, why hasn't there been a recall by Pontiac for the problem it is extremely ridiculous.”

NHTSA complaint #10238428, filed 2008-08, 87,000 miles
