“There was a loud boom and flames came to the windshield from under the hood. I pulled the car over and jumped out to safety. The engine burned and the front of the car was destroyed. Everything under the hood was destroyed. The brakes were also destroyed. The ignition didn't work but I was able to get the key out. There was no power the car.”

NHTSA complaint #10597155, filed 2014-06, 102,000 miles

“Since the beginning of june, the car has shut off while my son has been driving it six times. He has been on the interstate, on our local roads, etc. The car will start right back up. It is scary for a newer driver or anyone for that matter to be driving on the highway and the car just shut off.”

NHTSA complaint #10627156, filed 2014-08, 110,000 miles

“I left my house for the first time that day went three blocks stop for the stop sign it went in flames from the beginning of the motor all the way in my backseat I was driving probably 5 minutes doing the speed limit an coming to a stop sign an I stopped then in flames I called 911 and they put the fire out and they had they had to call a tow truck the car wasn't drivable afterwards one more. Now they want me to pay 350.00 for the tow an 2days of it being there.”

NHTSA complaint #10654088, filed 2014-11, 250,000 miles

“Car suddenly started running very poor. Skipping, no power. Took to dealer and they replaced the plastic intake manifold. Cost me $1200. Approximately 75,000 miles. In searching the web for others having this problem, I conclude that there is a design problem and GM should stand behind it. I really like this car but I won't buy another GM.”

NHTSA complaint #10162308, filed 2006-07, 75,000 miles

“1999 Pontiac Grand Prix gt engine caught fire after being parked 5-15 minutes. Car damage - was totaled. Discovered on the internet that many others suffered similar destructive non-collision fires and that NHTSA # ea07008 has a recall # 08v118000, but... Gm never contacted me. Investigation closed one month prior to my fire! It could have been prevented. Perhaps NHTSA should enforce its actions.”
