Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“When I start my car, it will stall out, not turn over or it will idle for a few seconds, then immediately shut off. I mean shut the whole car down so nothing electrical can work at which point my key will be stuck in the ignition and I cannot get it out. I am able to restart the car normally, however the steering wheel vibrates along with the body of my car while in motion and while parked. While making a left turn through a four way intersection, I lost control of my power steering and the wheel was stuck at first and then swung all the way back which spun my car around. …”

“I found out there is a recall on the 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix with it's fuel system. As quoted, the fuel tank is missing the adhesive layer that bonds the barrier layer to the outer shell of the fuel tank - this problem increases the risk of fire! I just purchased a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix and have smelled gas and also the gas cap will not go on tight. The emission light is constantly on because of this gas issue. I drive 46 miles a day for my work and now reading this I do not feel safe on the highway I have to travel. …”

NHTSA complaint #10422956, filed 2011-09, 48,470 miles

“The fuel pump is leaking and now will allow fuel to get from the fuel tank to the carburetor. It was parked for a few minutes and when returned to vehicle it wouldn't start. Have noticed the smell of raw fuel emitting from the vehicle prior to this incident.”

NHTSA complaint #10854941, filed 2016-04, 89,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix. The contact was driving approximately 25 MPH and became involved in a crash. The front driver's side of the vehicle was impacted and the front end caught on fire. The fire department was called and was able to extinguish the fire. The driver of the vehicle sustained a concussion and a back injury. A police report was filed of the incident. The vehicle was towed from the scene and inspected by investigators who could not determine the cause of the fire because the fuel tank was located in the rear of the vehicle. …”
