“Almost immediately (within a couple hundred miles) after receiving product safety recall 17036 passenger presence system to add a reinforcement strip to the passenger pps sensor mat, my service air bag light came on. When I visited my dealership, they denied that their service could have had any impact on the failure and attempted to charge me a diagnostic fee that would not be applied to a repair.”
NHTSA complaint #11166065, filed 2019-01, 60,000 miles“The airbag not functioning light is coming on intermittently. When the vehicle is moving or idling. I took it to the dealer today and they reported there were no active codes. After reading online about this I am now concerned that I am driving a car without airbags functioning and either a dishonest dealer or an incompetent tech.”
NHTSA complaint #10946772, filed 2017-01, 164,000 miles“Service airbag light came on, I took the vehicle to an auto shop, they said they have heard of this problem and said it should be a recall item but so far GM refuses to accept responsibility. I believe this is a very real safety issue and sooner or later someone will be hurt or killed. The repair of the passenger presence sensor costs about $800.”
NHTSA complaint #10820082, filed 2016-01, 71,200 miles“Takata recall I have reported this issue more then once and apparently no one cares because you have told me before not enough complaints and recall doesn't coverage passanger problem. For at least 3 years I have been complaining about a problem with passenger air bag and nothing has been done. I do live in florida.”
NHTSA complaint #10871138, filed 2016-05, 20,000 miles“We bought the car and the passenger presence system was not working. Since then we have received notifications numerous times that this is a safety issue and that your agency knows this. There have been no parts to fix this . If this is a safety issue why not do something about the manufacturers?? So driving this puts us at risk and others on the roads !! This is ridiculous. Why have your agency and then do nothing?”
