Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“At approximately 72k miles, the passenger air bag warning light has lit up on my dash, and it will not turn off. It happened at start up one morning in my garage. The warning now stays on all the time whether the car is stationary, in motion, on a city street or highway, turning, or any other type of vehicle situation.”

NHTSA complaint #10902050, filed 2016-08, 72,000 miles

“Air bag light stayed on during initial starting sequence and never extinguishes. I have to acknowledge the fault on my drive information control (dic) in order to select other options. The light has been on now for two months. Never had this issue before.”

NHTSA complaint #10936376, filed 2016-12, 39,500 miles

“Takata recall I did receive notice on this recall and took it to gmc dealer and that person told me I couldn't do anything until I receive notice to bring the car back for repair and never received that notice”

NHTSA complaint #11034339, filed 2017-10, 40,000 miles

“While driving down the road with my girlfriend in the passenger seat my check airbag light came on and the oassanger air bag turned off. When I brought it to the shop they said the passenger air bag sensor in he seat broke.”

NHTSA complaint #10717496, filed 2015-05, 42,000 miles

“Air bag light came on. Dealer recommended replacing passenger present sensor which detects the weight of a passenger to turn the airbag on or off. The cost was $885. I can't afford to fix it, so I am riding around with nonoperational airbags with a car with only 34k. Based on Pontiac Solstice forums, this is a common problem with Pontiac Solstice, but no recall to fix this obvious safety flaw. I would be glad to send you a copy of the dealer invoice with the error codes from 11/14/14.”

NHTSA complaint #10659881, filed 2014-11, 34,000 miles
