“Since I've had the aem updated as part of the epa settlement I have delay when pressing the gas and acceleration, particularly when it is cold. There has also been a significant mpg drop although that isn't an immediate safety concern. This can be a particular issue when pulling into interchanges or on to the highway as acceleration is unpredictable.”

NHTSA complaint #11321304, filed 2020-04, 23,500 miles

“I bought my truck on the 25th at 6pm. And at 7p on the 26th it had caught fire on the highway and burnt ro the ground with me and my pregnant wife in the truck. I heard ticking coming from the motor followed by a loud pop and then lost all power no gas response and coasted to breakdown lane just barley got mi wife out of the truck and the truck was fully elguffed.”

NHTSA complaint #11258925, filed 2019-09, 66,000 miles

“After an emissions recall was performed on eco diesel engine (ECM update) the engine has become terribly sluggish on initial takeoff. I can push the gas petal to the floor and nothing happens for several seconds. I feel that this is a safety concern because there is inconsistent engine performance that could cause an accident.”

NHTSA complaint #11245423, filed 2019-08, 60,000 miles

“Did the new ecodiesel update and now truck lags during acceleration. Takes a second or 2 to take off. Also with the EGR cooler recall I'm losing coolant can possibly cause a fire. Fca told me when I called to carry a jug of coolant with me to refill as needed. I would think I would have to do this on a 3 year old truck.”

NHTSA complaint #11288280, filed 2019-12, 42,000 miles

“Eco diesel emissions update, upon having my truck ECM flashed with the court settlement emission update, I have observed severe power loss. To the point of 4-5 seconds of delay when initially pulling out in to traffic on any road or highway. Very sluggish and has almost caused me to have an accident . This started immediately after the update . My truck drove fine before the update.”
