“I have a 2007 Saab 9-7X with a faulty fuel gauge. There are many articles related to this problem and I would like to submit my complaint. The fuel gauge fails immediately when I start the engine. After several minutes, it then reads erratically. If you could reply on how I am to take care of this with GM, it would be appreciated. My vehicle has 102,000 miles on it and I am the original owner.”

NHTSA complaint #10586769, filed 2014-05, 98,000 miles

“After filling up at the gas station a few days ago, I started the car and I got the low fuel light and warning ding. I turned the car off, restarted it and it showed I had a full tank of gas. As I drove to work (less the 2 miles) the gauge quickly went back down to empty and the light/ding came on. Over the next few days it did this constantly so I had it looked at today. $500!! To fix.”

NHTSA complaint #10502143, filed 2013-03, 38,500 miles

“For the past two year I have been getting intermediate false fuel readings. The gauge would read empty or close to it. One time it stated I had more gas then I really did, causing me to run out of gas on the freeway. As time went on, the issue became more frequent. It is becoming a dangerous issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10468479, filed 2012-07, 30,000 miles

“On numerous occasions while driving my vehicle, it has registered half a tank to a quarter tank of fuel. While driving, with no warning, the vehicle has stalled, and later was determined to be out of gas. It has occurred at least 4 occasions in the past 6-8 months, always while I was on the highway.”

NHTSA complaint #10398210, filed 2011-04, 71,000 miles

“My fuel gauge read empty after I filled up my tank. After driving for a few miles my service engine soon light came on. It will spontaneously read full, then empty then partially full then near empty etc etc. In researching this topic this seems to be a well documented issue for GM and it appears in the luck of the draw now my vehicle joins the large number of vehicles with this issue. I don't see a recall for this in my research for my 2007 97-x. Is there a broader scope recall?? Some sites indicate a willingness of GM to pay half the cost?? …”
