Example complaints

Electrical system: “Takata recall I woke up to my vehicle on fire and it had been off for over 8 hours. It had been parked in my driveway all night. We heard a bang from inside then out neighbor banged on our door a minute later saying my vehicle was on fire. We called 911 and they had to come and put it out.”

NHTSA complaint #11242046, filed 2019-08, 180,000 miles

Fuel system: “I have a 2007 Saab 9-7X with a faulty fuel gauge. There are many articles related to this problem and I would like to submit my complaint. The fuel gauge fails immediately when I start the engine. After several minutes, it then reads erratically. If you could reply on how I am to take care of this with GM, it would be appreciated. My vehicle has 102,000 miles on it and I am the original owner.”

NHTSA complaint #10586769, filed 2014-05, 98,000 miles

Visibility (wipers, defrost, mirrors): “Driver side window/door panel started smoking. Burned a whole through the unit. Window and door controls do not work. The sideview mirror control rolled down the window and now the entire unit does not work. Electrical smell throughout the car.”

NHTSA complaint #10479523, filed 2012-10, 111,522 miles

Exterior lighting: “We have headlights that randomly go out since we purchased this car. It was serviced twice for driver side front door module. I expressed concern both times about the lights. Received letter in jan./15 for headlight modular recall - but no parts available at that time. Now notified that my car is not part of that recall. Well the lights still go out periodically and we have to drive with the fog lights on. Thank god no one has been injured.”
