“Passenger side seat air bag suppression module needs service. Dealership says that it will be $1200 for the repair, but I found a recall (17v061000) for the same problem, but when I enter my VIN, it doesn't say my vehicle was included. They said neither air bag will function if this service light comes on. This vehicle is stored all winter. When we uncovered it this spring, the light was on.”
NHTSA complaint #11219410, filed 2019-06, 24,350 miles“Noticed in april 2017 that service airbag dash light has stayed on constantly. At the same time the passenger air bag indicator always displays off . Thai is while a passenger is sitting in the seat. The car has 23,228 miles currently. I believe it is a safety issue. I'm worried that system may not work in a car crash.”
NHTSA complaint #10978558, filed 2017-04, 23,228 miles“I was turning into my subdivision and as I entered a curve in the road my hand hit the key fob and the ignition turned off. I stopped as quick as possible and put the car in park and restarted the engine. Immediately the check engine and have air bags serviced lights came on and stayed on. I recently had the ignition replaced under recall but the lights stayed on.”
NHTSA complaint #10637305, filed 2014-09, 42,500 miles“Got the ignition switch replaced and now the service air bag light wont go off. This results in the passenger side seat and should be a recall!!! The car is not safe to drive with anyone in the car because the air bags will not deploy. I never had this issue until I got the ignition recalled.”
NHTSA complaint #10617040, filed 2014-07, 8,045 miles“I purchased a 2009 Saturn SKY from a gillman chrysler/jeep/ ram a houston dealership and the service air bag light was on when I test drove. I was told that this would be taken care of but as of now, it has not. I talked directly to chevrolet but chevrolet will not fix the problem even though this has occurred many times prior on the same car. This should obviously be a recall. Please don't wait for someone to die before you react.”
