Example complaints
Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.
“Passenger side front seat belt (may apply to rear belts as well) retractor does not function properly. The belts appear to have a limit set on them that is too short for the vehicle configuration. A simple act such as leaning forward slightly in the passenger seat to open the glove box can cause the seat belt to limit up and begin it's lock down. It then begins to ratchet backwards and will not give in the forward direction at all. If the passenger leans back it tightens further, and becomes difficult to disengage from the latch mechanism. …”
NHTSA complaint #10137788, filed 2005-09, 50 miles“I drive a 2005 Scion XB, about two weeks ago the back hatch handle broke of, where the light shine to the license plate. I know that there was a recall on the handle like three years ago... I called toyota to see if the recall was expired, they don't see a recall ever been done. I do see this as a safety do to lighting and electrical. I know this has been an issue with other Scion like the one I have. Some did get a recall and got fixed.”
