“On 1/11/19 I took my 2008 Scion XB to toyota one of oakland for 150,000 mile service (my mileage was 104,809 at the time.) at the appointment, I explained I noticed my car using more oil than usual. I had the 100,000 mile service completed on 8/10/18 and noticed I had to add additional oil to the engine since then, approximately 3 to 4 quarts. The weekend of 11/11/18, I noticed the oil was low when I checked the level, but the oil light never came on to notify me. …”
NHTSA complaint #11172976, filed 2019-01, 104,809 miles“At random times all of the traction control lights, brake lights and other lights on the dash illuminate. It also seems to get harder to steer the vehicle. I have been told it is a wheel speed sensor and drum that needs to be replaced and possibly an axle or spindle. For a car bought new in 2008 with only 42,000 miles the manufacturer should stand behind the product. I am concerned of the safety of driving this vehicle and having a wheel come off. The dealer wants a bunch of money to fix it. Unhappy toyota owner.”
NHTSA complaint #10499351, filed 2013-02, 42,000 miles“For the 3rd time in 18 months the clutch pedal sticks making the vehicle not drivable. The linkage has broken, or according to toyota service representative, dirt has collected underneath the cable which prevents the clutch from engaging properly. This seems to occur after the vehicle has been parked, but I dread it occurring in traffic or on the freeway. After the first occurrence, it did happen after I left the freeway from just having it repaired. Every incident requires a vehicle tow.”
NHTSA complaint #10417416, filed 2011-08, 24,392 miles“Dashboard warning light for brakes, ABS, and tcs light up randomly so the driver cannot determine if there is a problem with the brakes or it is a false warning. The car was examined by don joseph toyota/Scion in kent, ohio on march 1, 2010. They said the right rear sensor was malfunctioning and it would cost approximately $700 to repair it because the car has 53,000 miles on it and is out of warranty. This failure has been occurring intermittently for one month.”
NHTSA complaint #10315305, filed 2010-03, 53,000 miles“The car sustained a n l shaped crack in the windshield passenger side from no apparent impact . Clearly a design flaw and is likely to happen again according to how many people have complained about this .”
