“I was driving very slowly in a parking lot and had braked at a 3 way. I turned slowly with my foot gently on the gas pedal to go into a parking space and the car suddenly accelerated and went into the abutment of the parking space. I was able to brake.”
NHTSA complaint #10385628, filed 2011-02, 39,045 miles“Jan 24 2006 I was driving to work (around 45 MPH) in my 2006 toyota Scion and my windshield started to crack. I pulled over to see if it was cracking because of some type of impact (say a rock), or just looking to see what was happening. And at the time I did not see anything but the 6-7 inch cracking of my windshield. I came to work and asked other people to look and they did not see any type of debris damage. I called the toyota dealer were I purchased it...and then told me to bring it in. …”
NHTSA complaint #10215975, filed 2008-01, 20,000 miles“changed from outside lane to inside lane, when I tried to turn right to stay in the middle lane the steering wheel locked sending me into the left hand turn lane and then into a car that was in the next lane, hitting their left rear tire. I told the insurance adjuster about the issue, he told me they would have the car checked, but I don't think he or my insurance company had the car issue inspected or investigated. The accident seemed minor, but the other party is claiming bodily injury. Maybe you guys can see who has the car and get it checked. …”
NHTSA complaint #11739470, filed 2026-05“Door locks will unlock half way unable to exit car. Door locks will click open and close independently while driving and when parked, using key remote to lock car and while walking away I hear car locks click. I walk back to car to find all doors unlocked? Rear hatch handle assembly very flimsy. Is not strong enough to pull door open. Mine came off in my hand squeezing the release then pulling it open! Cannot open from outside without it or in an emergency. Also without the handle there is no illumination of the license plate which gets you pulled over and gets you a ticket!”
NHTSA complaint #11235155, filed 2019-07“The contact owns a 2006 toyota Scion XB. The vehicle was parked when the contact observed the vapor canister located above the rear axle failed, due moisture coming from the filler tube. The manufacturer and dealer stated there was no recall related to the failure or warranty. The failure mileage was 79,900.”
