“Master window switch caught on fire, and unit and plastic was melted. Had to replace, only to find out this part was recalled for the same model number and year as mine, but my VIN did not match up. You may need to investigate further. Same issues the recall described, and may be more like me out there. Nhtsa campaign id number: 12v491000 NHTSA action number: pe12002 component: visibility:power window devices and controls.”
NHTSA complaint #10650440, filed 2014-10, 65,251 miles“The contact owns a 2009 toyota Scion XB. The contact stated she believed the foam that held the front and side windows to the vehicle were designed too wide. When stopped at a traffic stop, the contact was unable to see out the window because the foam was obstructing his view. The contact stated he barely missed a crash three times due to the flaw. The manufacturer advised that he would be sent a letter in regards to his complaint. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 7,000 and the current mileage was approximately 20,000.”
