“My warning lights on the dash are coming on and causing the car to lock up, jerk, and stall while in motion in slower speeds usually when at a street sign and going into a turn, a stop light also going into a turn on main hwys and worse of all in neighborhoods prior to my getting to the hospital. I'm not in good health and go for testing and treatment regularly. Plez help I know y'all are aware of this thing but it's not a recall yet. Plez fix my car. I'm on disability due to cancer.”
NHTSA complaint #11354731, filed 2020-09, 86,000 miles“As I was driving, my ABS, brake light, vsc lights all came on . They flash constantly. I had the vehicle checked and was told I needed to replace my ABS sensors both the left and right side. Now again the lights came back on and I'm told that the wire harness has to be replace to fix the problem.”
NHTSA complaint #10620661, filed 2014-08, 38,800 miles“After car was sitting outside after snowstorm, car was started and as I pulled out of the parking spot, several lights (brake, tsc, ABS) appeared on dashboard. Once I began driving on the slippery road surface, the anti-lock brakes no longer functioned as they had previously, leading to increased sliding. This seems like a severe safety issue. The lights went out after driving for several miles, but re-appeared sporadically over the rest of the winter.”
NHTSA complaint #10598703, filed 2014-06, 44,000 miles“My ABS and brake lights came on while I was driving on a residential road. Went to the nearest toyota dealership, where they told me that my ABS sensor was no longer working in the left tire. They replaced the sensor. 6 months had passed and the light came on again for a few days then went off. This scenario played out for the next several years, more so in colder months. The reason it was not repaired was because the cost was too high to fix. Starting in october 2013 the ABS and brake lights came on and have not come off since then. …”
NHTSA complaint #10629320, filed 2014-08, 35,254 miles“The contact owns a 2008 toyota Scion XD. While driving approximately 34 MPH, the vehicle spontaneously jerked to the right. The contact depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle would not stop. The vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle and some bushes; however, the only thing that stopped the vehicle was the mud. The engine continued revving until the ignition was turned off. During the failure, the contact could not control the steering column nor the vehicle because the electronic stability control system failed. …”
