“I bought my car in 2016 there was a recall on airbags, they fixed it before I bought it, but my airbag light has been going on and off for over a year now, I had my mechanic reset it , but it comes back on, is it under warranty still or not ?”

NHTSA complaint #11256936, filed 2019-09, 59,000 miles

“Takata recall I understand that I may be driving a car with these airbags and that they may cause serious damage or death in case of an accident. Nothing has yet happened, but in the case of an accident there could be something serious.”

NHTSA complaint #11056982, filed 2017-12, 136,000 miles

“Takata recall. Reporting my car is on the recall list. I was informed with a letter from Subaru my car has this defect. I am making an appointnent to have it replaced asap. It has not deployed yet.”

NHTSA complaint #11012952, filed 2017-08, 88,439 miles

“Airbag light comes on intermittently on 2008 Subaru Outback, not sure under what specific conditions, sometimes the light stays on for days. Dealer service said I needed to replace overhead console module due to shorting and charged me $350. After researching the problem I found many people had solved this problem with simply soldering the connection for almost no cost. Dealer service never offered to try soldering, only warned me that the airbag wouldn't work when light was on. …”

NHTSA complaint #10680982, filed 2015-02, 69,000 miles

“Airbag light stays on and passenger airbag light( off) stays off. I had my car serviced for coolant flush. I asked service manager about the issue he stated that it is in the maplight and if the light burns out the airbag on the dash will light up and possibly cause a malfunction in airbag deployment. So meaning as consumer I have to replace the entire maplight console and pay for something that is a known Subaru issue or more fault in design.”
