2006: “I had the timing chain replaced at approximately 100,000 miles under warranty. It had to be replaced at approximately 200,000 miles. The timing chain failed at approximately 210,000 miles and stopped running while being driven. The timing chain should not need to be replaced so often and I have heard of similar complaints on various web sites and from other sources.”

NHTSA complaint #11025465, filed 2017-09, 210,000 miles

2008: “Check engine light illuminated and was told by our local garage the timing chain needed to be replaced. Needed special tools to do the job, so we had to take it to a former Suzuki dealer that still had specialty tools and had it fixed for $2200. Former dealership said this is a common problem with these cars. Also contacted Suzuki USA and filed a complaint.”

NHTSA complaint #10852573, filed 2016-03, 98,000 miles

2007: “Passenger side seat is not recognizing a passenger is in the seat, so air bag is off and alert light stays on and off periodically. The light comes on once we are stationary and may go off and on as the car is in motion. Vehicle has 72200 miles a and I am worried the air bag will not deploy if needed. The sensor in the passenger seat appears to not work as it should.”
