“Highway merge ramp at almost full throttle twice, once passing another vehicle on highway at also high throttle usage, accelerator pedal was stuck open vehicle continued to accelerate felt like cruise control was engaged but wasn't. I stepped on brakes but that didn't help, I then hit the accelerator pedal with my right foot and the pedal went back to normal.”

I even had to give my daughter cpr on the side of the road due to carbon monoxide inhalation. She went into respiratory failure do to this she has severe asthma.”

NHTSA complaint #10154778, filed 2006-04, 1,200 miles

“Toyota 2006 4runner 4wd limited discharges a sulfur smell when I accelerate, especially when I am going up a hill. The smell is strong even when my windows are up. I'm also concerned about the smell being a health issue. I purchased the car brand new in february 2006.”

NHTSA complaint #10181865, filed 2007-02, 500 miles

“2006 Toyota 4runner. I was quoted $1,500 for a time cover oil leak repair in lakeland, fl. There was a TSB issued 2007 (eg049-07). Apparently, most of the charge is for labor, the replacement part is not expensive. I understand the avalon has the same problem. This repair cost is astronomical, especially considering that it's a commonly known problem in toyotas - possibly from poor design. I don't think the consumer should have to absorb the cost of this repair. Hopefully, something is being done to help the consumer.”

NHTSA complaint #10409352, filed 2011-06, 80,000 miles

“When my 2006 Toyota 4runner is running or when acceleration a rotten egg smell comes from the catalytic converter. I have taken the vehicle in and the dealer claims there is nothing they can do. I have never had this problem on any other vehicles I have owned.”
