“There was a recent recall on Toyota trucks for the tire gauge. I have had the exact problem with my Toyota 4-runner (2006). The tire gauge light is always one. When I take it in for service they turn the gauge off but goes right back on. I have talked to others and they have the same issue with their 4-runners and lexus rx400h. I talked to the service manager and he said he sees the issue all the time with 4-runners.”
NHTSA complaint #10386758, filed 2011-03, 5,000 miles“Rear driver sidewall of my discoverer ht plus tire split in half. Tire store told me it was an impact tear when nothing was hit/runover needs to be checked into thankfully I was only going 30 miles per hour and stability control had to take over after the tire deflated.”
NHTSA complaint #10404173, filed 2011-06, 148,985 miles“I recently experienced a blowout of a tire still in like new condition. I maintain accurate air pressure at all times and check them often. I also had not damaged the tire in any way. No holes. No repairs. It was like new in every respect. I was traveling at the rated speed limit of 70mph on an interstate when at first I heard a noise and then felt vibrations, and then the back of vehicle swayed a little from side to side. I backed off the accelerator and pulled over off the road safely. I found that the tread section of the tire had torn away from the sidewall. …”
NHTSA complaint #11209664, filed 2019-05, 13,039 miles“Tire low light goes on a lot. The first time, I actually had a flat. The rest of the times it happened, I went to the tire shop, and they said that either one tire was a little low (not dangerously) or none of them were. This is annoying because the light won't go off by itself if you fill the low tire -- someone has to turn it off manually. Also, I take the vehicle off paved roads fairly frequently, so I need to know whether there really is a problem if the light comes on.”
NHTSA complaint #10389616, filed 2011-03, 45,000 miles“2006 Toyota 4runner. Consumer writes regarding tires the consumer stated as he was driving, he heard a loud pop sound come from the vehicle. He exited the vehicle, but did not see anything wrong. Later, a light illuminated on the dash board alerting the consumer of low tire pressure. Soon after, the consumer experienced a tire blow out on the left rear tire. The consumer stated the tire should have been replaced under bridgestone's warranty.”
