“2009 michelin latitude tour all season luxury tires p265/70r16 were purchased at costco 12/16/09. We went to our mechanic on 2/17/15 for a vibration problem on front end of our 1998 Toyota 4-runner. After inspection he informed us that our tires were cracked on side wall. In addition the road force balance test shows severe runout on front tires and we should replace all 4 tires. We have only put 18,000 miles on these tires. My tires don't fall under the recalls but this doesn't seem right for that kind of failure to occur with such low milage.”

NHTSA complaint #10683915, filed 2015-02, 97,595 miles

“4 dunlop radial rovers 235/75 r15 installed 2 or 3 years and 30,000 miles ago on my 1998 Toyota 4runner. I always maintained recommended pressures and just rotated them myself last week after our previous las vegas trip. On our way back from las vegas july 19, 2004 2 pm near fontana the car began to shake progressively until it was undriveable above 45 MPH so I pulled over to a small turnout. I changed the left rear tire that I found had a major bulge (3 inch diameter bubble on sidewall which continued another 3 inches into the tread.) changed it to the spare and car still shook when driven. …”

NHTSA complaint #10082281, filed 2004-07, 116,400 miles

“Was driving down I-95 at 70 miles an hour and my front driver side tire exploded. The side wall blew out on my SUV. My tires are 109s s2 kelly safari SUV, with goodyear as the supplier. I took the tire into goodyear and told them that I did not feel safe with those tires, they had less than 30,000 miles on them.”

NHTSA complaint #10078404, filed 2004-06

“Concerned about recent tire tread seperation at normal driving speeds. Coworker experienced failure of same tire installed on her vehicle. I am deeply concerned for my family and loved ones due to the recent disclosure of the tread safety problem and the replacement of tires in other countries. ( DOT number: w2hhawb tire size: p225/75r15 )”

NHTSA complaint #726726, filed 2000-08

“The tire shredded while driving along the highway. I do have photos of the tire showing the disintegration of the tire tread. This is not one of the recalled tires. However, due to this incident, I feel I should have my tires replaced by firestone. I will forward the phots to your office. (DOT number: w2hhawb068 tiresize: p225 75r15)”
