“I was getting into a turn lane which had a red light, there were no cars ahead of me. When I hit the brakes to stop the car a 2005 Toyota Avalon would not stop. I put the shift in neutral and then in park and then turned the key of and got it by another car and my car still kept going, although it did slow down and stop after being hit. I brought this same car in for the recall fix on feb 24 2010. And this happened after the recall fix.”

“On feb. 11, 2010 I took my Toyota Avalon in for the accelerator recall. On feb. 17, 2010 I was pulling into a parking space on the grounds of the elementary school I worked at that day when my car accelerated. It jumped the curb sideswiping my car with a car that was parked on my right. After it hit the ground from jumping the curb it accelerated again heading straight toward the school building. I put two feet on the brake and pressed as hard as I could. The car did stop. The car was towed by aaa to a Toyota dealer in fort smith, ar (where the accident occurred). …”

NHTSA complaint #10316881, filed 2010-03, 92,000 miles

“Transmission lags then jumps forward, transmission slips at low speeds never seems to find a gear. Steering at speeds below 40 will jerk left or right depending on the road.(scares you to death) brakes have grabbed and jerked the car from day one the dealership ground the rotors to fix this but it has not resolved the problem. The car has had the power steering hose replaced because it leaked and it still does. The cd player skip while your parked, the steering wheel needed to be replaced. …”

NHTSA complaint #10154548, filed 2006-04, 200 miles

“My onboard navigation system goes to great lengths to make sure you agree to not watch the screen while driving, yet when you get to cetain areas the voice guidance system says voice guidance is not available in this area. Please follow the arrows on the screen. This is contradictory and dangerous. Even the low cost unit I have in another vehicle provides voice guidance right up to the destination. Toyota should provide updated software to cure this safety issue.”
