“Rear windshield spontaneously shattered in the mid-day sun, along entire length of both sides of the windshield. Car has not been driven in several days, and was sitting stationary in the driveway at the time. No evidence of disturbance in the surrounding area.”
NHTSA complaint #11405432, filed 2021-03, 4,426 miles“Our family vehicle is barely 5 years old with a little over 100k miles driven and is already in need of a transmission. We invested in a Toyota because they are known for being reliable and efficient cars but now are expected to either pay 8-10k or use the C-HR as a paltry down payment of $2k for another car we would once again start paying down. This is not the product or experience we expect especially since the car was properly maintained at every step.”
NHTSA complaint #11708931, filed 2026-01“For several weeks my car was calling 911 on its own. I took it to the dealer and they originally took a plastic cover off of the Toyota Saftey Connect System. But the car continued to call 911. So I took it back again and they decided to disconnect the system is what I was told. After that for the past 2 weeks the system has been turning off audio and stating there was a connection failure. The dealer said don't worry about that when I contacted them once more. …”
NHTSA complaint #11540253, filed 2023-08“My vehicle began making a grinding noise. I immediately called the issue in to Toyota of Dallas. I scheduled to have all my tires replaced and to inspect the noise. I was informed that my CVT needed to be replaced. The dealership is unwilling to replace the CVT despite prior recalls on CVTs in 2018 and 2019 for Toyota CHR. My 2021 vehicle is paid off, has little to no wear and tear (I only drive locally), and has been taken to the dealership consistently when service is needed. I should not have a bad transmission. …”
NHTSA complaint #11771315, filed 2026-10“On 09/12/2024 Ran over a small sharp object in the road and popped the rear drivers side tire and the tire sensor light came on. Two days later on 09/14/2024 we took the car to the dealership and had them change all four tires. We were told the mechanic found a broken off sensor in one of the tires. It was not in the blown out tire, it was in a tire that had no damage to the tire or rim. I talked to the service manager about how the sensor could have broken off the stem in side the tire. …”
