“2009 Toyota Camry Hybrid dashboard melting in florida sun. I am concerned that the airbags will not deploy properly due to defect. Contacted Toyota regarding defect and was told that they know about the problem and have fixed the problem, but owners like me are out of luck. The cost for new dashboard is $1,400. I asked if they were certain that it would not affect airbag deployment and was told there is no way to know for sure.”
NHTSA complaint #10598318, filed 2014-06, 110,000 miles“My husband & I were involved in a collision with a deer on june 8, 2014, with our 2009 Camry Hybrid. We were traveling about 70 MPH on interstate 72 east around jacksonville, il. It was a front end collision as you will see in the pictures. Neither of us was injured; however, the air bags did not deploy. Had this been something stationary that we had the collision with we would have been injured. Can you tell me why this would happen? I am now very concerned for my safety in my car.”
