“Driver's seat slides when I accelerate or stop. It occurs every time I drive the vehicle and I have taken it in to checkered flag Toyota in virginia beach, va to have the problem fixed. It is obvious there is a problem with the track the seat sits on. The service technician asked the service adviser how heavy I was (I weigh 135lbs) and told her the problem could not be fixed, the entire seat would have to be replaced. Checkered flag will not respond to my service requests.”
NHTSA complaint #10409362, filed 2011-06, 96,000 miles“Rear window is blocked by the head rest. Also, the when the sun visor is down, it blocks the rear window . Manufacture states that the design meets DOT compliance. The consumer also indicated that eh rear window appeared to be significantly small than prior year solara convertible.”
NHTSA complaint #10089188, filed 2004-09, 1,500 miles“Vehicle was parked and without incident the seat heater caught on fire. Owner took the vehicle back to the dealer, who removed the seat, and installed a new seat.”
NHTSA complaint #10109252, filed 2005-03, 4,600 miles“I recently purchased a new 2004 Toyota Camry Solara convertable. When the top is up the two rear seat headrests block visability out of the rear veiw window by at least 60%. The rear window is small to start with, limiting visability, the headrests really compound the problem. I contacted Toyota corp about the possible removal of the headrests. Their response was that the headrests were fixed and could not be removed. I believe this is a design flaw and a valid safety issue, the reason for my e-mail.”
NHTSA complaint #10074944, filed 2004-06“2004 Toyota solara convertible design flaw. Rear seat backs are too high and block vision out of rear window. Very difficult when trying to back up or change lanes. 2007 model year has redesigned the back seats to allow greater vision.”
